From April 2025, the conditions for entry into the United Kingdom have changed

The United Kingdom has introduced an entry permit (ETA) for EU citizens. Anyone travelling to the UK from spring 2025 must ensure that they obtain an ETA in time.

From 2 April 2025, the British government will make the entry of EU citizens into the United Kingdom subject to an electronic travel authorisation (hereinafter: ETA). Requesting an ETA permit is typically required for tourism, transit, family visits, business meetings, participation in conferences or even entry for study purposes and stays of no more than 6 months.

The fee for applying for an authorisation is currently GBP 10, which will increase to GBP 16 on 9 April 2025. The ETA is approved for two years, subject to the applicant’s travel document, so if it becomes necessary to change the travel document in the meantime, a new authorisation must be applied for entry into the UK.

It is recommended to submit the application at least 3 working days before the trip.

The fastest way to apply is to use the UK ETA app, which can be downloaded from the AppStore or Google Play.
