Often referred to as Golden Visa, the Guest Investor Residence Permit program grants a residence permit valid for 10 years based on a specific investment.
The most anticipated part of the program would have started on the first of January 2025, which would have allowed for obtaining a guest investor residence permit based on the purchase of 500,000 euros worth of residential property.
However, a legislative amendment deleted this possibility at the end of 2024 and removed it from the immigration legislation.
Thus, there are only two ways to obtain a guest investor residence permit:
- Purchase of investment units worth EUR 250,000 from a real estate fund manager registered with the MNB.
- A donation of EUR 1,000,000 to a specific higher education institution.
