Foreign driving licenses in Hungary has been changed

With some of our clients’ inconvenient experienes in view, we would like to draw our visitors’ attention to the fact, that the legal regulation (government decree No. 326/2011. (XII.28.)) concerning driving licences issued in foreign countries has been modified with effect of 9. April 2013.

If an EU or third country citizen does not nationalize the driving license issued outside Hungary by the relevant deadline, this constitutes a public traffic administrative offence.

In case of a police check, the penalty is the following:

– If the policeman decides to issue a tag, max. HUF 50,000.

– The policeman can decide to initiate an infringment proceeding, in this case the penalty may rise to HUF 150,000.
